Texans Address the Line in Third

The Houston Texans continued their fantastic draft by selecting Alabama center Antoine Caldwell with the 13th pick in the third round (77th overall). Caldwell was considered by many to the fourth-best center in this year’s draft, which boasts the best crop of centers in years.
Antoine Caldwell
stands 6'3", 307 lbs., and is a dominating presence on the inside. Caldwell will have the advantage of low expectations as a rookie, as Texans starting center
Chris Myers
did a solid job a year ago. Caldwell can play anywhere on the interior of the line and will offer immediate depth.
"So you need a guy who is capable of playing all three spots,” Kyle Shanahan said. “Now we’ve got that guy, and it’s just as important as anything. Last year, I'd like to say it was lucky that all five guys stayed healthy all year. The odds of it happening again are not very high, so we needed a guy like this."
Many figured the Texans to go with a running back in round three, but Iowa standout
Shonn Greene
and Alabama tailback
Glen Coffee
were already off the board.
