After a tremendous recruiting battle, Inside Kentucky went with its instincts. If you really want to be the source of Kentucky sports, why not choose the number one sports talk show in Lexington??

That's exactly what Inside Kentucky thought when it officially kicked off its arrival to the Lexington airwaves on August 12th, 2004. From that day forward, the "Inside Kentucky Radio Hour," which plays every Thursday and Friday, was officially entered into the already powerful collection of WVLK's Sports Central programming brought to you each week by host Tim Woodburn and Cumulus Broadcasting Company.

"We had little doubt that the best place for Inside Kentucky was with WVLK and Tim Woodburn," Inside Kentucky President Greg Vincent said. "Tim is an individual whom exhibits the never-ending drive to be the best at his craft; a characteristic that we at Inside Kentucky fully understand and carry forward each and every week. To say we are truly pleased with being able to join such a unique and hard working individual is an understatement."

Since his arrival several years ago, host Tim Woodburn has transformed his Sports Talk show into the most dominating force in the city of Lexington. In fact, in the last two years, for persons 18+, WVLK-AM 590 has more listeners for sports talk than WLAP-AM 630 and WLXG-AM 1300 combined!! It is that tradition of excellence that has made IK and WVLK such an attractive tandom for radio listeners across the Bluegrass state.

The Inside Kentucky Radio Hour will be played every Thursday and Friday this coming year, with each night having its own unique time slot. Thursday's this year, catch Inside Kentucky recruiting guru Rob Gidel from 7-8 as he offers his unique look at the recruiting scene across the Southeast and in particular, the state of Kentucky. Known for his uncanny ability to outwork his competitors in the recruiting game, Gidel will also offer his insight into the world of UK Athletics.

"I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to become apart of such a prestigious sports program." Gidel said. "I am looking forward to the following months and the opportunity to offer a more personal analysis to our many members and followers of Inside Kentucky."

Friday, IK's lead staff writer and magazine contributor Lonny Demaree joins Sports Central from 6-7 pm nightly. "The Mayor," as has been appropriately nicknamed by his co-workers, has been a fixture of UK Football for many years as well as an active member in the Lexington community.

A Community Voice columnist for more then thirteen years, Demaree formerly was a columnist for The Cats’ Pause magazine as well as co-publisher for Inside Wildcat Championship Football for six years years. He currently writes for Inside Kentucky's magazine after a brief stint with Big Blue Nation. In addition to his work on Friday nights, he helps with Woodburn's post game show on WVLK 590 following each and every Wildcat football game.
