There have been several position battles over the last couple of weeks at camp, but none more talked about that the starting quarterback role. Joker Phillips ended that debate today.
Mike Hartline was named Kentucky's starter for the Louisville game after today's practice at the Nutter Center.
Joker Phillips hinted at taking the guy who had been most consistent throughout the fall camp season and Hartline fits the bill. While both Morgan Newton (sophomore) and Ryan Mossakowski (Redshirt-Freshman) were popular picks among fans, neither player did enough to beat Hartline out for the role.
Phillips also made it known that he wouldn't be scripting a series or any plays for the number two quarterback. So that leads to yet another question. Who is number two?
At this point, they have not picked the number two guy. That means both backups will have an opportunity to earn that role and should Hartline go down with an injury, as he did last year, they'd have to be prepared to come in and keep the ball moving.
