Former Duke guard chose Memphis, as expected. Williams also showed interest in Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Kentucky.

Rising sophomore guard Elliot Williams, who was recently released by Duke, has as expected decided to transfer to his hometown school of Memphis. The guard also expressed interest in Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Kentucky; but Memphis was the presumed favorite given the reasoning Williams has given for the transfer.

Reports indicate that Williams left the Duke program to be closer to his family, in particular his ailing mother. Williams is expected to petition the NCAA for immediate eligibility as Tyler Smith did when he transferred from Iowa to Tennessee to be closer to his ailing father.

Kentucky’s scholarship numbers remain somewhat of a mystery, as the school has yet to officially or unofficially comment on the fate of Matt Pilgrim. Pilgrim is on the Kentucky campus taking summer classes and working the camps with the Wildcats.
