Former Kentucky basketball player Mike Casey has died of heart complications. He was 60.

Former Kentucky basketball player Mike Casey has died of heart complications. He was 60.

The former Wildcat passed away just before 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

Named Mr. Basketball in 1966, Adolph Rupp once called Mike Casey the best money player he ever coached.

The basketball forward and guard was UK's 13th all-time scorer, with 1,535 points.

Casey became UK's leading scorer as a sophomore in the 1967-68 season. He averaged 20.1 points per game. Among his honors was an appearance on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

He will be missed.
