LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Kentucky dropped the rubber game of the three-game series with No. 28 South Carolina Sunday afternoon 4-2 behind the complete game performance of Gamecock pitcher Blake Cooper. Kentucky falls to 16-8 (4-5) on the season, tied for 4th place in the SEC East with South Carolina.

South Carolina led from start to finish, although the Wildcats left six men on base in the final three innings--including two in the ninth inning. After loading the bases with no outs and the top of the lineup up, trailing 4-1, Kentucky managed to score only one run and stranded two as the final out was recorded.

The loss wasted a fine starting performance by freshman phenom Alex Meyer, the 6'8, 205 pound hurler. Meyer went five innings today and allowed only one run before giving way to the UK bullpen. Tyler Henry took the loss in relief for the Cats.
