One of the higher rated recruits that Kentucky is still pursuing is defensive back Gene Robinson. Robinson is poised to make his visit to Kentucky next month, along with several other schools. KSR had a chance to speak with Robinson about his plans.
Robinson led his Whitehaven High School (Tn.) in Memphis to a 10 win and 2 loss season. Individually, he had a good season as well. "I had 70 tackles, three interceptions, five blocked kicks and punts. I also had three touchdowns," said Robinson.
"I have gotten better since the beginning of the season. I've worked on getting in and out of the breaks and reading the offenses," said Robinson.
Many schools have taken notice in Robinson's play over his senior year. "My top five is Alabama, North Carolina, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Southern Mississippi," said Robinson.
He has yet to take any of his official visits, but they are coming in the near future. "I'll be visiting schools in January," said Robinson. "I don't know the date yet."
Kentucky appears to have a strong shot at landing the 5-foot-10 defensive back. There is ample playing time available at corner for any recruit who can earn it next season. "Kentucky's recruiting me as a corner. There's a chance that I can play early," said Robinson. "It's a good education and you're in the SEC," Robinson finished.
Robinson is a three-star prospect according to Scout.com.
