GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The # 5 Florida Gators used two blocked punts and a blocked field goal to cruise to a 63-5 victory over the Kentucky Wildcats. Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow (11-15, 180 yards) had two passing touchdowns and two running touchdowns in three quarters of work to lead the Gators.
Florida
stunned
Kentucky
by blocking a punt on the first Wildcat possession, recovering on the Cats 3-yard line and a 3-yard touchdown drive. Still dazed, the Gators again blocked Kentucky's second punt, this time recovering on the UK 1-yard line and a 1-yard touchdown.
By the time the first quarter had ended, Florida held a commanding 28-0 lead. Kentucky began a drive as the quarter came to an end, however, behind quarterback
Randall Cobb
. The drive reached the Gator 7-yard line before the Cats had to settle for a 32-yard field goal attempt from
Lones Seiber
.
Again, tragedy struck as Florida blocked its 3rd kick of the first half, and the game, for all intents and purposes, was over. Kentucky will play its second consecutive road game next weekend to face
Mississippi State
in Starkville, Mississippi.
