Edward Hazelett, 6-9, 265 pound, tight end prospect from Indianapolis – Warren Central High School (IN) likes what Kentucky has to offer. Hazelett, who boasts almost two dozen offers spoke about Kentucky and what he liked about the Cats.

Hazelett reported, “I currently have 23 offers.” He spoke of his offers and said, “I have offers from Cincinnati, Louisville, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan State, UCLA, Ole Miss, and Arkansas.”

He has been to Lexington to check out the Cats and came away impressed. He commented, “What I really like about Kentucky is the how the fans support them. When I went there for a game last year they really showed a lot of support to the recruits and really made us feel welcome there.”

As far as building a relationship with the coaches Hazelett has a good feeling about the Kentucky staff. He explained, “I think the coaches are great too. The head coach came over and acknowledged me before the game. Out of all the recruits there he made sure he came and made sure he shook my hand and. That really caught my attention and caught my eye for Kentucky.”

When comes to narrowing down his list Hazelett is in no hurry, “Right now I am in AAU so I really don’t plan on narrowing my list down until the end of summer.” But Hazelett added about a visit to Kentucky, “I plan on making an official visit up there.”

According to Hazelett Kentucky is in good standing right now as he reported, “Yeah, because they were one of the first schools to come and talk to me. Definitely Kentucky will be a school that has a chance to be a school I will choose.” He also added, “The tight end had about ten catches I went to. They utilize their tight end a lot. I like catching the ball, I don’t mind blocking, but I like catching the ball.”

He explained of Kentucky’s offense and its use of the tight end, “It is a real big factor how much they will utilize the tight end.” Hazelett spoke of Jacob Tamme, former Wildcat and now Colts draft pick, and his career at Kentucky. Hazelett saw Tamme’s career and success as a big plus for Kentucky. He said, “Actually that does add a lot of positive feelings because I heard a lot of NFL scouts were at their senior day. It makes me look at Kentucky even more because it means they are producing NFL players and their using the tight end.”

Hazelett spoke of any chances of having his decision by his senior season. He commented, “No, I can tell you I won’t have my decision by my senior year. My mom is telling me to be a kid and play sports right now.”
