LEXINGTON, Ky. – Coach Rich Brooks has confirmed that the
Kentucky
football team will have its second major scrimmage of spring practice during Saturday’s 10 a.m. workout at Commonwealth Stadium.
Rainy weather on Friday morning moved the Wildcats inside for a two-hour practice in the climate-controlled comfort of the Nutter Field House. It is UK’s 10th practice among the allotted 15 workouts during the spring.
After practice, Coach Rich Brooks updated the status of two injured Wildcats. Senior tailback
Tony Dixon
, who hurt his left knee on Wednesday, has been confirmed with a sprained medial collateral ligament. Dixon will miss the remainder of spring practice, but should be ready to resume activity in about three weeks.
Sophomore defensive tackle
Ricky Lumpkin
had an arthroscopic procedure on Monday to address a calcium deposit in his upper right groin area near the hip. Brooks said an additional surgery will be done on Thursday.
“Rich Brooks Show” on Monday:
The Rich Brooks Radio Show will be broadcast on Monday from 6-7 p.m. EDT. The show will be carried by the Big Blue Sports Network, including WLAP in Lexington and WHAS in Louisville.
Coach Brooks will discuss the team’s progress during the spring and the upcoming Blue/White Game.
Spring Football Calendar:
Practices are open to media and fans. Practices held at Nutter Training Facility unless noted otherwise. For practices at Nutter, fans should stand behind the ropes in the porch area. Fans may sit in the stands for practices at Commonwealth Stadium.
