Chris Singleton still has four schools on his list. Those schools are, in no particular order, UK, Florida State, Tennessee and Georgetown. And though he is not yet officially ready to drop any of those programs from his list, he has not made a visit to one of those them, and has no plans to at this point, fueling speculation that there may soon be three schools remaining before too long.

Chris Singleton still has four schools on his list – for now. Those schools are, in no particular order, Kentucky, Florida State, Tennessee and Georgetown. And though he is not yet officially ready to drop any of those schools from his list, he has not made a visit to one of those programs, and has no plans to at this point, fueling speculation that there may soon be three remaining before too long.

“I have not been to Georgetown yet,” Singleton said, “and I really don’t have any plans to visit them as we speak.” Despite an admission that it would be difficult to make a commitment to a school that he had not visited, Singleton is not ready to cut Georgetown from his list. “There is still a lot to consider,” said Singleton, “I like Georgetown and the coaches a lot. I am not ready to cut anyone just yet.”

Singleton said that this process has been a difficult one but that he has resisted temptations to make a decision before he is absolutely sure it is the right one. “There are many things to me to consider,” the 6-foot-9 wing player said, “and I have been going back and forth with it.”

One consideration that comes up with so many players, is the opportunity for playing time, and the fit, “I see myself as playing the two guard position in the NBA,” Singleton said, “and I know Kentucky is losing Ramel Bradley and Joe Crawford after this season, so that may open up some doors for some playing time in that area. They have Jodie Meeks and Alex Legion that can play that position, but those guys can also drop down and play small forward, pretty much the same as me. I think the versatility is attractive.”

Singleton just attended Kentucky’s Midnight Madness and indicated that it is hard to not get swept up in the enthusiasm, “The fans there really support their basketball team,” Singleton said, “that was pretty amazing. It was a great experience. It made an impression.”

Singleton had visited Tennessee the week before and came away impressed as well, “What really stood out for me there was the camaraderie among the players,” Singleton said.

Singleton has visited Florida State in the past, but has not made plans to go back prior to making a decision, “I really don’t need to go back,” Singleton said, “at least at this point. They have a good program, a great coach and play in a great area of the country. They have needs at my position, too. They are a strong consideration.”

One consideration that had been spinning around the internet was a possible package to Florida State for Singleton with fellow Dunwoody High School and Atlanta Celtics teammate Pierre Jordan. “I have certainly heard that rumor,” Singleton said, “but I’d really like to squash it. I like Pierre and if I ended up at the same school, it would be alright with me. But he needs to do what is best for him, and I need to do what is best for me. The two recruitments are totally different. If I end up at Florida State, it will be because it was the right place, not because someone I know went there. If he ends up at Florida State and I end up somewhere else, that is fine, too. There is no package deal. I will be making my own decision.”

Singleton says making a decision by the fall period is perhaps 50-50, “I may make it by then, but as I said earlier, I am not going to rush it,” Singleton said, “it has to be the right fit. I believe I will be ready to make the commitment this fall and then sign in the spring.”
