# 8 Wildcats face #11 Gamecocks

COLUMBIA, SC -- The # 8 Kentucky Wildcats face the # 11 South Carolina Gamecocks in a nationally televised ESPN contest tonight at 7:30 p.m. Join Kentucky Sports Report tonight as they bring you updates, comments, and insight directly from Williams-Brice Stadium.
The sky is overcast, and a gentle rain has fallen in the last hour, but currently the air is dry. ESPN trucks have surrounded the stadium, the locals have been tailgating since early this morning, and game day has arrived.
The contest pits the
Kentucky
Wildcats (5-0, 1-0) against the
South Carolina
Gamecocks (4-1, 1-1) in a game that will--at least for the moment--place the winner atop the SEC Eastern Division. Kentucky currently enjoys the top spot in the East, as they join LSU as the only two undefeated teams, both in conference play and overall.
The Gamecocks are coached by Steve Spurrier, a coach who has never lost to the Kentucky Wildcats (14-0). South Carolina also enjoys a streak of seven consecutive victories over the Wildcats, and they hope to extend both streaks this evening.
Should Kentucky win tonight, they will become the first team in the nation to become NCAA bowl-eligible with six wins. The game is also the first of a murderous three-game stretch in which Kentucky will face # 11 South Carolina, # 1 LSU, and # 9 Florida over the next three weeks.
Kentucky Sports Report will bring you updates directly from the ballgame this evening. Join Darrell Cartwright on the KSR premium message board as Kentucky competes in this historic ballgame.
