Kentucky rolls over Kent, 56-20

LEXINGTON, Ky -- Kentucky scored six consecutive second-half touchdowns, amassing more than 300 yards of offense to break open a game that was tied 14-14 at halftime. Rafael Little rushed for 102 yards, and Andre Woodson was 15-22 for 218 yards and two touchdowns. Kentucky moves to 2-0 on the win and will next face in-state rival Louisville (2-0).
Kent opened the game with a 12-play, 80 yard drive, and for all intents and purposes, it appeared the MAC preseason favorites may catch the Wildcats looking ahead to next week's in-state rival. UK matched the opening drive with their own touchdown, a 7-play, 70-yard drive culminating with a John Conner 5-yard touchdown run.
After trading punts, Kentucky next stopped Kent by forcing a fumble and recovering it on UK's own 43-yard line. Five plays later, the Cats capitalized on the turnover on a 32-yard strike from Woodson to Steve Johnson, and went ahead for the first time, 14-7.
That would be the last time UK scored in the half, though, as the next three possessions ended in punts, and the lead would not hold up til the half. Kent continually shot itself in the foot while gaining yardage--if not points--against the Wildcats, turning the ball over three times, with two fumbles and an interception. The half ended with the score tied at 14-all.
The second half was all Wildcats, though. Scoring a touchdown on each of their first six possessions, the Wildcat defense also limited the Kent offense to only one score in the 2nd half, and walked away with a convincing 56-20 victory.
