Summer camps are great for coaches and fans

Posted Jun 7, 2002

Summer Camps are just another way for the coaching staff to evaluate talent.

With probation, limits on visits, limits on scholarships, and various other sanctions laid upon the UK program in the past few months, the recruiting trail has become a bit thinner.  It’s difficult to compete with the powerhouses of the SEC when the playing field is uneven.

Yet, somehow the UK staff seems to truck on and recruit as if nothing has changed.  Players like Joe Spurlin walking on does not happen often, so maybe, just maybe, lady luck has finally changed her tune regarding the Kentucky Wildcats.

So the beat goes on for the Kentucky staff, traveling across the country trying to find the absolute best talent to be able to compete in the SEC.

But it is what they do while simply staying at home that is just as important.  The UK summer camps give the staff a chance to watch talent on UK's campus.

Please take note that all of these camps are open to the public.  You, the fan, are welcome and encouraged to come out and watch the camps progress.  There should be something to interest for any fan in the month long schedule of events.

So come on by the Nutter Training Center on UK’s campus for a first hand look at young talent in action!
