'Cats land first commitment of '06

The Wildcats have landed their first commitment of the 2006 season. This time, in Steve Spurrier's back yard.

The University of Kentucky celebrated more than just a festival Blue-White game this Saturday. While the Wildcats were dancing their way to an offensive clinic in the annual spring matchup, they were also wrapping up their first commitment of 2006.

According to Scout.com's Miller Safrit, 6-foot-1 safety/defensive back Calvin Harrison has officially committed to Rich Brooks and his staff. The talented senior-to-be hails from Richland Northeast High School in Columbia (SC).

"I committed to Kentucky," Harrison said on his return from a weekend visit to Lexington, "I wanna play in the SEC and I think I can play early at Kentucky."

Harrison garnered 81 tackles with five for loss, two forced fumbles, and two interceptions as a junior.

The talented athlete chose the Wildcats over interest from USC, Clemson, NC State and Wake Forest according to his coach, Jay Frye.
