SEC hoops slate released

The SEC released the league basketball schedule on Friday, an 18-game slate which sees the Wildcats open at home against Ole Miss on Jan. 6 and close at home on March 7 against rival Florida.

Other highlights on the schedule include what could be a tough stretch in February with games at Florida (7th), LSU (10th) and Tennessee (17th) in an 11-day span sandwiching a home game against South Carolina.

One schedule abnormality is the lack of a home game against Tennessee. The league encountered such challenges when it expanded to add Missouri and Texas A&M two years ago.

It will mark the first year since Rupp Arena opened in 1976 that the Wildcats and Vols will not play in Lexington.

Speaking of orange, former UT head coach Bruce Pearl, who is now leading the Auburn program, will make his return to Rupp Arena with the Tigers on Feb. 21.

All 18 of Kentucky’s conference games will appear on national television (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, CBS or SEC Network). Television information and start times for the remainder of the non-conference schedule will be released at a later date.
