Cats improve to 4-0 on Big Blue Bahamas tour

Junior forward Alex Poythress continued his impressive play on the Wildcats' Big Blue Bahamas exhibition tour, scoring 20 points Friday in leading UK to an 83-71 win over the Dominican Republic National Team.

Kentucky improved to 4-0 on its tour playing against a team that included former Wildcat Eloy Vargas and former Louisville standouts Edgar Sosa and Francisco Garcia.

Poythress is averaging a team-best 15.25 points per game on the exhibition tour.

The Cats also got 12 points from freshman forward/center Karl Towns Jr. and a double-double (10 points, 12 rebounds) from sophomore center Dakari Johnson.

Kentucky led 47-36 after a strong first-half offensive showing and extended the lead to as much as 22 (66-44) midway through the second half.

The Cats were coached by assistant Kenny Payne today as John Calipari continued to observe from the top row of the gymnasium. Calipari said new assistant coach Barry "Slice" Rohrssen would coach the Cats in Saturday's game against French squad Chalons-Reims.
