Avery Williamson is going home.

The Kentucky linebacker was selected in the fifth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday by his homestate Tennessee Titans with the 151st overall pick.

"This is crazy," Williamson said in a statement released by UK as he watched his name come across the screen from him home in Milan, Tenn. "It's a great feeling to be at home. I'm very excited.

"I'd also like to say thanks for all the support I've had from my family, the coaches I've had over the years and the Big Blue Nation. I'm thankful for everyone who has helped me along the way."

Williamson earned first-team All-SEC honors as a senior after recording 102 tackles, his second consecutive year over the 100-tackle mark. He also had four tackles for loss, three quarterback hurries, two fumble recoveries and a sack.

Before coming to UK, Williamson was a first-team all-state performer at Milan High School, where he won the 2009 Tennessee Player of the Year award by the Jackson Sun. He led the team to back to back state championship games as a junior and senior, setting a title game record with 22 tackles as a senior in the 2009 game.

The Wildcats have placed several linebackers in the NFL in recent years, including Danny Trevathan in Denver and Wesley Woodyard, a former Bronco who will join Williamson in Tennessee.

Williamson is the first UK player ever drafted by Tennesseee. The last time a Wildcat was drafted by the franchise was 1993 when the Houston Oilers picked offensive lineman Chuck Bradley.

It marked the seventh consecutive year that UK has had a player chosen in the NFL Draft.
