The Wildcats could not dig itself out of the early hole, thanks to Miller taking a no-hitter into the fifth inning against the SEC's top offensive club.
Miller (6-1) allowed three runs -- one earned -- on six hits through six innings of work. The 6-foot-7, 240-pound junior left-hander struck out four and walked three as Vanderbilt improved to 22-6 overall and 4-4 in SEC play.
Chandler Shepherd (5-1), who suffered his first loss of the season. The junior right-hander allowed a career-high 11 hits and seven runs in six innings on the mound. It was his first loss in SEC action.
Dansby Swanson went 4-for-5 and had a two-run home run to highlight the Commodores' offensive day at the plate. He later added a double off the wall, just narrowly missing a two-homer game.
Bryan Reynolds and Rhett Wiseman each added three hits for Vandy, which banged out 16 against five UK pitchers.
The rubber match will be played Sunday at 2 p.m. ET with UK in search of its first series win at Vanderbilt since 2008.
