Kentucky's Ryan Timmons has been named to the College Football Performance Awards 2013 National Freshman of the Year Watch List, the organization announced this week.
Timmons is one of 32 FBS players and four SEC players to make the watch list. He currently ranks second in receiving yards (209) and fourth in rushing yards (88) for the Wildcats through five games this season. He's averaging 11 yards per rushing and receiving attempt, tops in the SEC.
The former Franklin County (Ky.) standout scored his first collegiate touchdown in last week's game against South Carolina, hauling in a 14-yard scoring pass from Jalen Whitlow as part of the Wildcats' fourth-quarter comeback attempt that came up just short in a 35-28 loss to the Gamecocks.
Previous FBS recipients of the award include Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel (2012), Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller (2011), former South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore (2010), and former Oregon running back LaMichael James (2009).
