Dupree, Williamson on Coaches' All-SEC

Avery Williamson & Alvin Dupree

Kentucky's Avery Williamson and Alvin "Bud" Dupree have been named to the 2013 Coaches' Preseason All-SEC team, the league announced Thursday.

Kentucky's Avery Williamson and Alvin "Bud" Dupree have been named to the 2013 Coaches' Preseason All-SEC team, the league announced Thursday.

Both Wildcats were third-team selections in voting by the SEC's 14 head coaches.

Williamson, a senior linebacker from Tennessee, ranked second in the conference and seventh nationally with 135 tackles last season. He had a streak of four games with at least 13 or more tackles, becoming the first UK player since Randy Holleran in 1990 to accomplish that feat.

Dupree, a sophomore defensive end, had 91 tackles, 6.5 sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss in 2012. The Georgia native is making the shift from hybrid end/linebacker to full-time end this season.

Defending national champion Alabama leads the SEC with 16 preseason selections, including a league-high five players on the first team, seven on the second team and four on the third team. LSU and Georgia both had eight players honored, while Florida and Tennessee each posted seven.

All 14 conference teams had at least two players named to one of the three units. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.
