Jerad Grundy became the third UK player selected in the MLB Draft on Friday when he was picked by the Oakland A's in the 10th round.
Fellow Wildcat pitchers Corey Littrell and Trevor Gott were taken in the fifth and sixth rounds by Boston and San Diego, respectively, earlier on Friday.
It marked the fourth time in his career that Grundy has been drafted. He was taken in the 26th round of the 2012 draft by the Minnesota Twins, but elected to return to UK. He was also drafted by Texas out of high school and by Florida in the 2011 draft.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound lefty made 14 starts for the Cats this season, posting a 6-6 record and a 4.86 ERA. He struck out 61 batters and walked only 20 in 83.1 innings of work.
In his two-year career, Grundy made 30 starts for UK, posting a 12-9 record and a 4.31 ERA in 169 innings, fanning 124 and walking 56.
