Practice Report: 12/22

Nick Saban

Alabama finished up its final bowl practice Saturday morning before getting a few days off for Christmas. The Crimson Tide will resume preparing for Notre Dame next Wednesday.

Alabama finished up its final practice before the Christmas holiday Saturday morning inside the Hank Crisp Facility. The Crimson Tide will resume bowl preparation on Wednesday, Dec. 26.

The media was granted about five minutes to watch practice because the team is expected to go through a closed mini scrimmage. Here are some observations from the viewing period.

--Freshman linebacker Denzel Devall (sprained knee) wore a black non-contact jersey and was on the stationary bike while reporters were present. He didn't do any pedaling though. His knee is still in a heavy brace.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban said this week that Devall probably wouldn't practice at all before Christmas and will be day-to-day after the holiday. He is not ruled out "by any stretch of the imagination," Saban said, for the national championship game on Jan. 7.

--Safety Jarrick Williams, who had surgery to repair a torn ACL in August, continues to practice in a black jersey and knee brace. He's looked good every day this week and hasn't been limited.

--Nose guard Jesse Williams (sprained knee) continues to work with the defensive linemen.

--Other injured players—center Barrett Jones (foot) and wide receiver Kenny Bell (leg)—were not on the practice fields. Jones, who said this week he will "100 percent" play against Notre Dame, is expected to be back on the practice fields after the break.

Below is a video of the Alabama offensive linemen, wide receivers and quarterbacks.
