Not much has changed since Tuesday's practice, as the same players--Barrett Jones, Jesse Williams and Jarrick Williams--are still wearing their black non-contact jerseys. One assistant coach was MIA, however.

It was a perfect day for football practice Wednesday afternoon as Alabama continued to prepare for the national championship. The temperatures were in the low 70s, it was sunny and didn’t feel one ounce like Christmas weather. The media was granted about 15 minutes to watch practice, so here are some observations.

--Once again, center Barrett Jones wore a black non-contact jersey, a cast on his left foot and did not practice. Alabama head coach Nick Saban said Tuesday evening that Jones will not practice at all this week and they’ll reevaluate after Christmas. Jones quashed any qualms about his availability for the national championship when he told reporters this week that he’ll be fine and is “100 percent” playing against Notre Dame.

Redshirt freshman Ryan Kelly continued to work with the first team in Jones’s absence.

Jones was working with a trainer, doing different light, strengthening type of exercises during the media-viewing period.

--Nose guard Jesse Williams (knee) also wore a black non-contact jersey and rode the stationary bike while reporters were present.

--Safety Jarrick Williams (tore ACL in August) continued to practice with the defensive backs. He wore a knee brace and black jersey, but did not appear limited during drills. Saban said Tuesday that it’s too early to determine if he’ll be ready to play in the national championship, but didn’t rule it out.

--Wide receiver Kenny Bell (leg), who wore a black jersey while riding a stationary bike on Tuesday, didn’t appear to be out at the practice fields.

--Defensive backs coach Jeremy Pruitt, who has reportedly taken the defensive coordinator position at Florida State, was not at practice (he was on Tuesday though). Reporters were told that his absence was not due to the FSU report, but rather for personal reasons.

Below, watch the running backs and defensive backs at today’s workout.
