Practice Report: 12/18

As Alabama began preparing for Notre Dame Tuesday afternoon, there were quite a few players sporting black non-contact jerseys. Some who we expected to see, and some who we haven't seen in awhile.

After two weeks off, Alabama began preparing for Notre Dame on Tuesday. It was a crisp afternoon, not a cloud in the sky. There was a lot to see in the 15 or so minutes the media was granted to watch, so here are some observations:

--Center Barrett Jones wore a black non-contact jersey and a cast on his left foot while riding a stationary bike during the media viewing period. He injured his foot in the first quarter of the SEC Championship game, but played the entire 60 minutes. He's expected to be ready to go against Notre Dame on Jan. 7, though. Redshirt freshman Ryan Kelly practiced with the first team in Jones's place.

--Several other players sported black non-contact jerseys, too. Nose guard Jesse Williams wore a brace on his injured knee and rode the stationary bike alongside Jones. Others in black and not practicing were wide receiver Kenny Bell (broken leg), running back Dee Hart (knee) and running back/H-back Jalston Fowler (knee).

--One more player wore a black non-contact jersey, but was practicing—safety Jarrick Williams, who tore his ACL back in August, went through every drill while reporters were present. He wore a heavy brace on his right knee.

--Defensive lineman Quinton Dial was practicing. A few days ago it was declared that he would not be suspended for the national championship by the SEC after his wicked hit on Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray.

--Defensive backs coach Jeremy Pruitt, who recently accepted the position of Florida State defensive coordinator, is still coaching the Tide.

We'll get more information on all of the above when Nick Saban addressed the media this evening.
