Quick to All-American game; updates colleges
It was a big Friday for James Quick. The Trinity High School senior All-American helped the Shamrocks to a 62-8 victory over Madison Central in the evening after officially being named to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl game during the afternoon. Quick and defensive end teammate Jason Hatcher were both selected to the Jan. 5 game in San Antonio. Trinity coach Bob Beatty will also coach in the game. The 6-foot-1 180-pound Quick called it a "special honor." The only other former Trinity player to participate in the game was former U of L quarterback Brian Brohm. Quick had one catch for a 46-yard touchdown in the blowout of Madison Central. He now has a state-record 277 catches for 4,354 yards and 55 touchdowns during his four-year career for the Shamrocks. As far as college and his pending decision, Quick said there's a good chance he could make his decision during the Army game. Quick listed Louisville, Ohio State and Oregon in order, followed by Kentucky and Tennessee. He plans to make official visits to Ohio State and Oregon soon. Trinity senior defensive end Jason Hatcher committed to USC in July and said he's "still committed" to the Trojans and expects to make his official visit in January. But the 6-foot-3, 245-pound Hatcher also plans on making some other visits. He said on Friday that he would line up his visits in the next week or so, but his plans are to also make trips to Florida, Miami and Tennessee. He said he also still keeps in contact with the Louisville coaches and is "watching" the Cardinals.
