Kentucky suffers a 49-7 defeat at the hands of struggling Arkansas in a game that was called due to inclement weather in the third quarter.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The only thing capable of stopping Arkansas on Saturday was a higher power.

The Razorbacks scored touchdowns on six consecutive drives to start the game and did not relent until Mother Nature delivered the second of two lengthy game delays due to lightning in the area. The game was called by the SEC with 5:08 remaining in the third quarter with Arkansas leading 49-7. The health and safety of the teams and fans was cited in the decison.

Once-struggling Arkansas (3-4, 2-2 SEC) got 372 yards passing and a career-high five touchdown passes from senior quarterback Tyler Wilson. He connected with running back Johnathan Williams for a 74-yard touchdown strike on the Razorbacks' opening play and never looked back.

The Wilson-to-Williams tandem hooked up again on a 77-yard strike to end the first quarter, a period which saw the Razorbacks score 28 points and rack up 307 total yards against the hapless Kentucky defense.

The Wildcat offense wasn't much better, going 3-and-out on six of its first eight possessions before getting a 61-yard touchdown pass from Jalen Whitlow to La'Rod King with 6:46 remaining in the third quarter. It marked the first career TD pass for Whitlow, a freshman making his second start after injuries to fellow UK quarterbacks Maxwell Smith and Patrick Towles.

Moments later, the second lightning delay of the night put Kentucky (1-6, 0-4 SEC) out of its misery. The game had been delayed 65 minutes in the first half after the initial lightning strike.

Arkansas' seven touchdowns topped UK's first-down total of six. The final yardage tally in the brow-beating was 533-170.

The Razorbacks had lost previous SEC games to Alabama and Texas A&M by a combined 100 points before breaking through with a 24-7 win over Auburn last week. Arkansas, a preseason Top 10 pick, had also lost home games to UL-Monroe and Rutgers.
