Kentucky landed their quarterback commitment for the 2013 class last week when Signal Mountain "signal caller" Reese Phillips gave the Cats his verbal pledge.

Phillips, 6-foot-4, 215-pounds, has the physical tools to be a very good quarterback. His skills were evident enough to Joker Phillips for him to give him an early offer.

"I take a lot of pride in my consistency and accuracy," said Phillips, who threw for 1970 yards and 21 touchdowns as a junior. "I have been told that I'm a great leader and good in crunch time," he said.

The Kentucky staff made a great impression on the Tennessean when he was on campus.

"Kentucky felt a lot like home and it was a place I felt comfortable immediately," he said. "The coaching staff just treated me like family. The biggest thing about the program was the coaching staff. They are just all around good people and very nice."

Phillips was in heavy contact with a hand full of schools and held offers from three programs, including Kentucky.

"I talked a lot with Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Memphis and Middle Tennessee State. I had offers from (Kentucky), Middle Tennessee and Memphis," he said.

Is Phillips ready to call recruiting quits at this point?

"I don't plan on visiting anywhere else. I like Kentucky a lot. It's a great opportunity to play early in the best conference in the nation," he finished.
