Where does UK Stand?

Jon Davis

Signing day is just a week away and there are a lot of nervous Wildcat fans watching while Joker Phillips and his staff are burning up the phone lines for potential recruits.

Jon Davis - 6-foot-3, 230 – TE – Jon Davis has been a verbal commitment to Kentucky for well over a year. For several months there have been rumors that Davis wasn't solid to Kentucky and when he took a visit to Oregon, the rumors became reality. Davis subsequently visited Kentucky, Illinois and Louisville. Soon Davis will make his final decision. Many believe he will choose the Cardinals.

Lamar Dawson – 6-foot-2, 235 – LB – UK has been in the running for Lamar Dawson from day one. Dawson has been recruited by the who's who of college football from Florida to USC to Oregon to Tennessee. Dawson is still high on the Wildcats despite more traditional powers being involved. Many think that Dawson's decision will ultimately come down to Kentucky and Tennessee, but Dawson has yet to say that publicly. In the end, I think Dawson will be a Wildcat.

Daryl Collins – 6-foot, 180 – WR – Daryl Collins has long been committed to Alabama, but there's obviously a small rift there. Collins has since visited Southern Mississippi and will visit Kentucky this weekend. He also scheduled a visit to Louisville which he didn't take. Either way, he doesn't seem sold on the Crimson Tide and his position with them. Kentucky feels good about Collins and I believe the Wildcats will land him.

David Washington – 6-foot-2, 270 – DL – David Washington committed to Kentucky several months ago, but there has been a back and forth between he and Mississippi State. Washington visited Mississippi State and was very impressed. Kentucky will get his final visit this weekend and they Wildcats should wrap up his commitment.

Marcoreyon Tandy – 6-foot, 195 – ATH – Bubba Tandy received an offer from Kentucky back in November, but it appears that the offer was a conditional one. Tandy visited Marshall a couple of weeks ago and the Herd are one of his two finalists along with Kentucky. Kentucky has picked up their interest in Tandy, and he'll be in Lexington this weekend before coming up with a final decision.

Signing Day Surpises
The last several years Kentucky has always had a surprise or two on signing day and this year likely won't be any different. Here are a few players who may sign with Kentucky and wind up being placed at prep school, JUCO or continue to work on their eligibility issues through the spring and summer.

LB - Desmond Wills - Lincoln, AL
ATH - Jerrell Moore - Louisville, KY
DE/LB - Terrance Coleman - Mobile, AL
DT - Jakari Kinnie - Gadsden, AL
WR - Michael Fluellen - Louisville, KY
RB/DB - Julius Pendergrass - Chester, SC
WR - Collins Moore - Madison, AL

Kentucky Sports Report's signing day chat will begin at 8 a.m. eastern time on Wednesday, February 2nd. The chat is open to the public and we'll have links up on the site Tuesday night and on Twitter as well.
