Derrick Locke out for Georgia game

Derrick Locke out for Georgia game

Kentucky will be without one of the fastest backs in the SEC when they take on the Georgia Bulldogs this weekend, as Derrick Locke is once again on the shelf.

Coach Joker Phillips delivered the bad news on Derrick Locke Thursday.

"Locke will not play this week," Phillips told reporters after the Kentucky practice on Thursday. "Hopefully, we will get him back next week. He should start back on Sunday, just running around with it, and then we will go from there."

If there is a silver lining in Joker's comments it is that Locke is apparently on the mend and should be available after the Georgia game.

Underclassmen Donald Russell and Raymond Sanders will combine to replace Locke in the lineup, which gives the youngsters some additional valuable game experience in preparation of becoming go to backs next season.

Locke is not the only Kentucky player unavailable for the Dawgs as Qua Huzzie is also on the shelf. Freshman Avery Williamson will backup the middle linebacker spot with Huzzie out of commission.

On a brighter note DeQuin Evans is expected to once again be anchoring his defensive end spot, after being knocked out via the injury bug.
